Update Documentation for CineMorph
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This file contains updates for new features to this version of
CineMorph. All documentation contained in this file is Copyright
1992 by GVP and Nova Design, Inc.
We'd also like to extend special recognition to Tom Lane and the
Independent JPEG Group for the code used for loading and saving
JPEG encoded/compressed images.
AGA Support
~~~~~~~~~~~
CineMorph now has full support for the AGA chipset of the 4000 and
1200 line of Amigas. You can now work on AGA mode screens as well
as rendering to the AGA mode displays in HAM8, Hires HAM8 modes.
Menus Everywhere
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Menus are now available and active from all windows. There is also
a backdrop window so it is not possible to "lose" the menus anymore.
Note that certain functions don't work when a window other than the
source or destination is active (such as Match Aspect, Match Other,
etc.).
Point Locking
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can now "lock" the points in the source and destination windows
so they cannot be moved. This is so you can select points without
fear of knocking them out of place.
Select Lock Points from the Window menu to toggle locking the points.
Point Naming
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can now name a group of points so that you can later select by
name without having to go through selecting them by hand. Point names
are specific to each cell (ie. they only affect the current cell).
Choose Name Selected... from the Point menu to assign a name to all
the currently selected points. Later, use the Select by Name menu item
to select a previously named set of points.
Under Workbench 2.0 or greater, Select by Name will bring up a list
requester from which you can choose the name of a set of points. The
window may be left open so you can just go back and click on the name
of a set of points at any time to select those points.
Also under Workbench 2.0 or greater, Name Selected will present a
list requester from which you can choose a previously defined named
group by simply clicking on it.
You can rename point groups by selecting the name group in the
Selector window, and typing in a new name in the string gadget below.
To remove one or more points from a point group select the points you
wish to remove, select the group name from the Selector window, and
click "Remove Selected".
Preview Display
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When generating a preview of a frame in your morph, you can now
specify it to show only the area you are currently zoomed into by
using the cycle gadget to switch from FULL to ZOOM.
Independant Scrolling
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The source and destination windows can now be scrolled independant
of each other. Hold down the CONTROL key while using the arrow
keys to affect only the window that is active.
New Curve Editor Commands
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Left, Right, Up, Down buttons to move the selected regions of
the curve around as you would expect.
You can also load and save curves from the curve editor window.
Local/Regional Color Dissolve
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can now specify local color dissolve curves. These work on
individual points, or groups of named or un-named points.
First, some theory of operation. The regional dissolve affects a
set circular region, or "patch", around the point you attach the local
curve to (the default is a 20 pixel radius).
Pressing F10 allows you to change the default, or global, patch radius.
Pressing F9 while points with attached local dissolve curves are selected
allows you to modify the patch radius of just those selected points.
New Keys
~~~~~~~~
You can now use the SHIFT key with the CTRL and ALT keys to select
multiple columns and rows of points.
SPACE will repeat the last pull down menu item for you. This can be
used to save time when adding lots of new rows or columns.
Pressing F10 allows you to change the default, or global, patch
radius for local color dissolves in the mesh.
Pressing F9 while points with attached local dissolve curves are
selected allows you to modify the patch radius of just those selected
points in the mesh.
Certain gadgets now have their key equivalents indicated by an
underscore appearing beneath the letter used to invoke that gadget.
Press the Right Amiga Key along with the underlined letter to activate
the gadget just as if you had clicked on it.
New Settings Menu Items
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Under Morph Options a new item Dissolve Only has been added. With the
new local dissolve capability and Dissolve Only, CineMorph may be used
as a simple wipe transition generator. Selecting Dissolve Only will
cause CineMorph to only perform a dissolve between the source and
destination images, no warping of the images will be done regardless of
how the meshes have been moved.
Set Save Format allows you to enter the name of any supported image format
for saving. Just type the name into the string gadget, eg: JPEG. For
a list of supported save formats, enter ImageFX and select the Save
gadget. This option is only available in the version of CineMorph that
comes with ImageFX.
Set Save Options allows you to specify the options for the format you are
saving with. These options are the same as those listed for the ARexx
commands in saving. This option is only available in the version of
CineMorph that comes with ImageFX.
Set Load Format allows you to enter the name of any supported image format
for loading that isn't automatically detected. Just type the name into
the string gadget, eg: Targa. For a list of supported load formats,
enter the Load As requester in ImageFX. This option is only available
in the version of CineMorph that comes with ImageFX.
Set Load Options allows you to specify the options for the format you are
loading. These options are the same as those listed for the ARexx
commands for loading. This option is only available in the version of
CineMorph that comes with ImageFX.
Group Menu/Sequence Menu
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The name of the former "Group" menu has now been changed to Sequence
to match the Mode selection as well as to differentiate it from
references to groups of points.
New Points Menu Items
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name Selected allows you to assign a name to any selected group of points.
This allows you to maintain groups of points, around an eye for example,
that can be reselected by name.
Select by Name lets you select a previously named group of points by their
name. It is also used to rename previously selected names or to remove
points from a name group.
Edit Dissolve allows you to edit the dissolve curve for the currently
highlighted point or groups of points. See Curve Editing in your manual
for detailed information. When a point has it's own dissolve curve, that
point will be show as an orange-ish color instead of blue.
Delete All Local will now also delete local dissolve curves.
New Window Menu Items
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zoom In gives you an infinite zoom control that will initially zoom into
the center of the images showing you only an enlarged view of that section
of the image within their editing windows. The arrow keys can pan around
the entire image. Holding the control key will restrict the panning to
only that window, otherwise both images will pan simultaneously.
Zoom Out - backs up one step in the zoomed images. If you have only zoomed
in once, this will return you to viewing the entire image. If you have
zoomed in twice, this will back up to the first level of the zoom.
Zoom Out Full - cancels all levels of zooming so that the entire image for
both editing windows are visible.
Lock Points is a check item that can be selected to lock the points down
so that they cannot be moved. This is useful when creating named groups of
points, so that the points you are selecting are not accidentally moved
when being selected.
New Render Menu Items
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HAM8, when checked, will allow you to render images for the AGA HAM8 mode.
If you do not have the AGA chipset in your Amiga, this item will be ghosted.
Hires HAM8, when checked, will render HAM8 images in high resolution.
Use ImageFX will use the render modules and settings you have running in
ImageFX. This allows you to render to many other image formats as well as
directly outputting your images to display boards such as GVP's IV24.
This option is only available in the version of CineMorph that comes with
ImageFX.
Set Bitplanes will bring up a string gadget you can enter the number of
bitplanes in lores or hires rendered images (other render formats have
a fixed number of bitplanes). The range of allowable bitplanes is 1
through 8 (representing 2 through 256 colors). Certain values will
only be available on AGA machines (256 colors, for example). This
option will be ghosted unless you have selected one of the Hires or
Lores rendering modes.
New Morph Menu Items
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ImageFX Commands allows you to enter a string of ImageFX commands
to be executed for every frame output from CineMorph. This allows you to
call on the image processing, color effects and other special effects
available within ImageFX. This option is only available in the version
of CineMorph that comes with ImageFX.
